A Story of Perseverance and Growth

The Founding of Pinewood Enterprises

Brooks and Sue embarked on a remarkable journey from Michigan to the Florida Keys in the early 1970s. Armed with only a few hundred dollars and their trusty black VW Bug, they set out to make a new life for themselves. Upon reaching their destination, Brooks wasted no time and began his career as an equipment operator. With unwavering dedication, an eye for detail, and a commitment to surpassing expectations, he swiftly climbed the ranks and eventually became a co-owner of the company.

In 1981, the duo established Pinewood Enterprises, initially focusing on underground work, particularly septic systems and equipment operations. By 1984, Brooks and two other visionaries founded Pinewood Materials, a concrete batch plant that catered to the lower keys for over two decades, fulfilling the region’s concrete needs.

The year 1991 marked a turning point for Monroe County as they embraced aerobic systems as an alternative to septic tanks. This change led to the formation of Jet Wastewater and Jet Crane Services, owned and operated by Brooks and Sue. Although these ventures have since been dissolved, they played a crucial role in shaping Pinewood Enterprises into the prominent high-end residential construction company it is today.

Pinewood Enterprises has experienced remarkable growth over the years, thanks to the relentless pursuit of excellence by our founders and the dedicated team assembled by Chris. Our portfolio now boasts a diverse range of projects, including residential renovations and additions, custom homes, and landscaping and hardscaping.
